On Wednesday, June 1 Mrs. Farber and Mrs. Bowden's classes had the opportunity to participate in a water lab at the BLSC. We learned that water is "sticky" (that is that its molecules like to hold it together). When we added soap to water, however, the water broke apart. We learned that we can make coins float by dropping them like a leaf onto water. Drop it like a knife and it sinks. If you use some tissue underneath, it is easier to drop the coin on top. We also learned that a cork will drift to the side of a cup of water, but if you fill the cup to the top the cork will float in the middle. We filled our cups so that the water was over the top!!
