We have been working hard this week on being kind with our words and our bodies/hands. We are becoming very good at listening with our whole bodies. In Math, we are starting to work on recognizing and building simple patterns (green, red, green, red, etc...) and number order and counting to ten. In Literacy, we are working on recognizing the sight words - I, a, like, to, from, am - and learning how to read books by re-telling, reading the words, and reading the pictures and telling ourselves a story. We've read books by Robert Munsch and Mo Willems and started making our books. Please read the books your child makes at school several times, encouraging your child to look at the pictures first then point and read the words. At this point, it will be mostly by memory which is perfectly okay...we want the children to see themselves as a reader and like reading.
