Yesterday I brought in a turkey and a cow heart for the students to inspect and inquiry about. We began by graphing how big they thought a turkey heart would be; I gave them three sizes to choose from. Next we talked about the relationship between the size of your body and the size of your heart. We all came to the conclusion that the bigger the body the bigger their heart would be. Finally it was time for the students to check the hearts out for themselves. They used their scientist senses to explain what they saw and make comparisons between the two hearts.
